Brander Gardens After School Parents Association

Brander Gardens After School Parents Association and the Child Care Centre was established in 1979 to serve the needs of working parents and latchkey problem. It is located inside Brander Gardens Elementary School. The Association is a Non-Profit Society and a Registered Charity. We are licensed and accredited under the Province of Alberta. Starting with ten to fifteen children, it has grown to its current capacity of 50 children as the demand for child care increases. As the program has grown so have the staff, resources and equipment.

Program Philosophy

The child learns and develops best when treated as an individual. Each child comes to us with a different background and rate of development. Therefore, the children should be able to build upon their abilities at their own pace and level of readiness. The child's social, cognitive, emotional and physical needs can be met through a well-balanced program that is play based. Through proper planning these individual needs can be enhanced and yet still encourage the children to develop their own ideas. PLAY is serious business to a child.

Brander Gardens Child Care Centre offers a recreational oriented program to provide a fun and enjoyable experience. It is of great importance to us that the program meets the continuous and changing needs of the children, to promote individual growth in areas of self-reliance, responsibility and respect, with the overall goal being the promotion of self-esteem, self-respect and to teach appropriate and acceptable behaviours.

We are always open to the children's ideas and suggestions. These are taken and elaborated upon to create an effective program. We promote lifelong learning and use a learning-through-play approach.  Playing GIF
